Technical excellence since 1997
Open Logic was founded in 1997 by Craig Smith and Paul Collins with a simple goal: to achieve technical excellence in everything we do. We have always understood that modern software projects are complex and can only be achieved by having the very best technicians, an attitude that lasts to this day.

Open Logic originally built an enviable reputation specialising in VisualAge Smalltalk and through partnering with IBM began delivering large-scale Object-Oriented projects using this technology. Our early work included a Call Centre application for Banco Nationale Del Lavoro and work at Coca Cola and Burmah Castol. |

As Java's popularity increased, Open Logic's understanding of the Object Oriented programming model allowed a natural progression to the Java environment and through our investment in J2EE skills we began working with customers such as Emap, Equifax and The Post Office on projects based on WebSphere Application Server.
The emergence of IBM's WebSphere Portal Server presented a new opportunity for the business and once more, through working closely with IBM we began developing and delivering business portals based on WebSphere Portal Server. Initial success at Oxfordshire County Council led on to further portals at BDO Stoy Hayward, Cable & Wireless and TNT, amongst others and Open Logic is now established as the UK Leader in delivering WebSphere Portal solutions.
Portal is an excellent entry point for an organisation to begin implementing a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). A true business portal should provides the primary interaction point between people and business processes (or services). Over the last few years Open Logic have worked with numerous organisations to extend the front end integration delivered with a portal to integrate back end applications, data and people.
In early 2006, we perceived a need to bring process automation and eForms together to be delivered through a portal and this has led to our development of our openPortal range of solutions. openPortal combines Open Logic integration modules and services with three IBM technologies, WebSphere Portal, WebSphere Process Server as well as IBM Lotus Forms. Through streamlining both paper and non paper-based processes, openPortal allows customers to automate their businesses and increase business efficiency. Furthermore, openPortal lets customer view inefficient processes and to re-engineer them to deliver increased cost savings.
In recent years, the business has shown impressive growth which has led to it being featured in both the 2006 and 2007 Sunday Times Tech Track 100 and Open Logic was the only British finalist in IBM's prestigious Beacon Awards for 2007.
Looking further forward, Open Logic plans to continue this strong growth by focusing on our key areas of expertise: WebSphere Portal, SOA and openPortal.
